BionicoHand Project
Since 2022, Jean Forest has been volunteering with My Human Kit, an association dedicated to open-source assistive technologies.
In 2023, participation in the development of BionicoHand V3, a fully open-source myoelectric prosthesis. Version V3 achieved 2nd place at Cybathlon 2024, an international assistive technology competition.

Creation of custom parts via dimensional measurement, 3D and 2D scanning to functionally and aesthetically integrate the various components (SAE system, counting unit, validator, tablet, sensors, etc.). From measurement to production, complete management of the integration.

Design and manufacturing of the Flexilock Twist orthosis mechanism

Contribution to the manufacturing and design of an articulation device for an orthosis (Flexilock Twist) allowing the wrist to be locked in position. Based on an existing version, it was redesigned to improve reliability and optimize the locking mechanism as well as the architecture enabling adjustment and the lock/unlock system. The prototype is used by patients with position-holding difficulties following traumas; the orthosis is intended to ensure wrist support for people who no longer have active mobility of it. The prototype is made entirely with PETG 3D printing and standard parts to allow reproducibility and adaptation to any morphology. Project carried out in support of INRIA's CAMIN team.

Volunteer participation in the creation of an open-source myoelectric hand prosthesis (movements actuated by EMG signal). Responsible for the aesthetic and functional 3D design of the hand, excluding the motor system. The BionicoHand V3 participated in Cybathlon 2024 and finished 2nd in the 'Arm prosthesis' category.
